for a fun peice from a series on stereotypes we have of indian men from different regions.
For the story and the rest of the illustrations see here
For a peice talking about Thai people and their supposed habit of grinning or smiling, under any conditions. you can find the story here
in moments like this
at a standstill
i miss my old city
and the hills
with the trees that stood still
and the rain
(who can say anything about it? )
just to see it again today
in moments like this
i would stand still
to be cleaned
like the city
of all that went on
and smell fresh breeze
i dont need anything more
just this.
Welcome the destruction
Welcome the fear
Welcome the unknown
that stands beside us here
I am stronger now
than i have ever been
i am weaker now
and again will be
Welcome loneliness
welcome solitude
welcome the fine line
that separates them
Only when you are destroyed
will you know your true nature
only when alone
when treated unkind
The mind is intelligent
it will see you through
but only when you bow down,
to see yourself get untwined.
2.
Who do you bow down to?
A lover?
No.
For he will never be mine forever.
To money?
NO.
For it will never be enough.
To god?
No.
For he does not exist.
To beauty?
No.
For it is tricky.
To friends?
No.
They are my shoulders,
as I am their’s.
To family?
No.
They are my feet,
as I am their’s.
I bow to myself
for that is what i construct
through books and art
and strings of the heart.
Theres two ways to look at it. One is that all your work should have some sort of imprint. That you have done it. And the other is that it should not all look the same which is boring. So at the moment the things i do respond to how i feel about the brief/article. The styles are all over the place. But I am attracted to realistic drawings with some sort of twist and mad colour (not too mad) and things go on.. maybe they’ll get a direction.
I’m not into caricatures, or atleast wasn’t till this assignment. This is my first step into this sort of stuff. To see the other illustrations and read the story go here
